2018 winter comp summary and Semi-Final Information

Hi Kissing Point,

The winter comp season is drawing to a close with normal rounds for most teams finished – the exception are the 9yr old teams that still have another 2 weeks of games to complete their season.

Our four NetSetGO teams playing at Lofberg Rd courts have finished their season last Saturday – we hope you had a great year developing your skills. Some girls (those turning 9 next year) will be playing at Canoon Road next year, while the players turning 8 next year become the senior girls at Lofberg.  Kissing Point will again be holding their Term IV NetSetGO! clinics for those young ones keen to keep having fun learning to play netball.

For our other junior teams and our senior teams playing at Canoon Rd (the 10yrs – cadet teams and those playing open) – the normal rounds have finished and the 3-week final series now starts.

For those teams that have missed out on the final series – we hope you have had a fun and enjoyable winter season – and look forward to your return to KP next year. We hope you will be able to come down and support our teams that have made the semi-finals – particularly those playing in the must win minor semi-finals (played between teams that came 3rd and 4th) next Saturday.

Kissing Point is proud to advise that we have:
7 open teams that have made it through to the semi-finals
10 junior teams that have made it through to the semi-finals

A great result that everyone involved should be proud of!

Below is the details of where our teams have placed during this season and for those playing in semi-finals the time and courts they are playing on.  It would be great if these teams could get some extra support for their games.

Despite the chill in the air, Spring is on its way .… so it’s time to start making plans for KNA’s Spring netball competition, played in the afternoon/evenings from mid-September to early December.  It is open to ages (9+), all genders and all standards, with the aim of having fun playing with friends in either all-female or mixed teams.

At Kissing Point we welcome players from anywhere – other Associations, Clubs, Schools or complete newbies.  Come as a whole team, or on your own and we’ll do our best to find a suitable team for you at KP with no ongoing obligation or expectation of you staying on with the club.

No need to buy a uniform – teams choose their own outfit (Eg; black shorts & a t-shirt of the same colour; or club/school uniform with silly socks etc). The club provides the ball, positional bibs and an Umpire per team, to whom the team pays $20 in cash at each game.

Fees are ….

All players must register & pay in the 2018 KNA Spring Comp even if already registered and playing Winter competition with KPNC, another Club or another Association.  Registration is on-line with on-line payment available only.

Players may play in BOTH Ladies and Mixed Competitions – if you are playing both competitions with KP only 1 fee is payable, however if you are playing with two clubs then you will need to pay the respective fee for the competition for each club.

MANAGERS … please advise Tina Tritton of your team details, grade and evening preferences via the Managers’ Sheet.
NB: neither KP nor KNA can guarantee you will be granted your preference as it will depend on the teams registering.

Congratulations Jess Clay – badged to a National A

A huge congratulations and well done to one of our umpires – Jess Clay – was badged to a National A – yes that’s right a NATIONAL A last night.

Jess has been an umpire for KP for many years and has buddied many of our younger umpires and is always ready to fill in for us when needed.

Truly, a well-deserved reward for all her hard work!!

is happening on Sunday 9th Sept (day after Grand Final games) at the Kissing Point Sports Club from 4.00 – 8.00pm.

We have presentation to all team members, special awards and food/drinks (gozleme lady is coming again).

As a special treat we have a Photo Booth this year!!

As we head off for a well-deserved school holiday break – just a quick summary of where all our teams are placed after Day 10.

While winning is great and being in the top 4 (and possibly playing in the finals series) is wonderful, don’t forget that trying your best for your team each week and enjoying your netball is the most important.

Enjoy your break, get over those niggling injuries, keep (or should I say get….!) your fitness and come back refreshed and ready for the last 4 games (or 5 games if you are in a 6-team grade) rest of the normal season.  Then it is either a break or onto the final series and then spring comp.  Never too much netball!!

To All Kissing Point parents of school age children

The information below has been taken from the Office of Sports website and relates to the ACTIVE KIDS voucher program –  https://sport.nsw.gov.au/sectordevelopment/activekids

You will be able to use your voucher if you register your child with Kissing Point Netball AFTER 31st January 2018 and after you have downloaded the voucher from the ACTIVE KIDS website.

If you are planning on using your voucher for another sport, you are welcome to register your child without completing the voucher section.

Commencing 31 January 2018

The NSW Government will allocate $207 million over four years to establish Active Kids. Active Kids is a program to help NSW families meet the cost of getting their kids into sport and active fitness and recreation activities.

What is Active Kids?

The NSW Government will provide a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children. The $100 voucher can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities.

Who is eligible to claim the voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years’ old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 will be eligible for an Active Kids Voucher. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.    It will not be means tested.

How long are vouchers valid?

Vouchers provided are valid for redemption during the current calendar year activity program (Year 1 will commence from 31 January and expire on 31 December 2018). Vouchers shall expire at the end of the calendar year.

No availability exists for retrospective redemption of vouchers.  Vouchers are available for redemption once only for the nominated registered season or term of activity.

What can the voucher be used for?

The voucher can be used for registration or membership fees for structured activities of no less than eight weeks’ duration that provide a moderate to vigorous level of physical activity.  The vouchers will be redeemable through approved sport, fitness and physical activity providers upon registration.

Please note that vouchers cannot be split between multiple clubs or registrations, and therefore you may not be able to claim the full $100.

How do you download a voucher?

From 31 January 2018, parents/guardians/carers with legal responsibility of an eligible child resident in NSW will be able to download a voucher from an online platform. The platform will be run by Service NSW and can be accessed through the ACTIVE KIDS website.
